Have you heard of Fish Spa? Well, I’ve been dying to try it for awhile and finally did at Kenko Fish Spa 2 weeks ago when I was at the Pavilion. I love my manicures and pedicures and part of it is because I’m obsessed about exfoliating… and having groomed nails. So when I heard of this new holistic way of getting rid of dead/dry skin I was so totally have to try it!At first the idea of having little fishies nibbling away your dead skin was a bit icky to me (yes, I’m quite ticklish) but I must admit that I was very curious and excited to try.
It is also said to reduce the symptoms of certain skin disorders, promotes blood circulation, releases tension and helps you relax. I was wondering.. how can you relax when you are watching these little piranha like fishes nibbling away at your feet? The suspense was killing me.. I must try this!
So I finally had a go.. They had like an indoor ‘river’ running through the shop. Before you can dip your feet into the pool, you’ll be asked to wash and scrub your feet first. Then you take a seat by the side of the pool and dip your feet in. Within seconds the fishes were were all over my feet! The first 10 minutes was torturous! So ticklish!! You can actually feel them nibbling, and the most ticklish were the ones that go in between your toes. I almost had to bite down on the towel that was given to me! I wanted to laugh out loud but I can’t, there were many other people around. After awhile you’ll get use to it and you’ll actually grow to enjoy it. Really..no kidding. My Dad (he was there with me) thinks that it’s not so bad when you don’t look at the fishes going at your feet and you’ll soon relax.
Aiden had a try but he was just too excited.. We even tried to put Caitlyn’s feet in (not like she has any dead skin on her) but she giggled and tried to kick the fishes away. (Oh, children under 4 years old are free of charge, by the way) When our 30 minutes was up I was actually reluctant to go, I was just starting to get the hang of it! So be warned… it can be addictive! I know I am. I’m so doing this again! So did the fishies do their job? I think they did. I don’t know if it’s phycology, but my feet feels cleaner and lighter, there’s this tingling sensation.. maybe due to the ‘improved’ blood circulation?![]()
