This is the goodie bags that I’ve made for Caitlyn’s birthday party. Unlike last year where I actually made one for every guest, this year I only made one for every kid that was coming to the party. Sorry lah!! It’s a lot of work ok!! :-P

But it’s all worth it judging from all the “oohs!” and “aahhs!” from the kiddos. LOL!!

Test Run Cake

Some of you already know that I just started learning how to bake not too long ago… but I have been doing quite well. Nobody has had a tummy upset or choked because the cake is too dry.. :P So I suppose I can pass… and am slowly making improvements.

So I’m planing to bake Caitlyn’s  birthday cake this year, and I’m  going to make it a 2 tier cake. A little over my head? Well yeah… maybe, but I’m determined to do it. If I can teach myself HTML, set up blogs and use Photoshop, I think I can and will be able to put together a 2 tier cake. 8-)

Kindergarten

I know…I know…It’s late! But it’s a post that I cannot miss. Aiden is almost entering his third week at kindergarten already. Yes.. We did it! We said that we were sending him to a Mandarin base kindergarten despite some disagreement (and quite a few encouragements), we manage to get him in to Kuen Cheng Kindergarten.

How was the first day?

Hmm.. I wouldn’t say that it’s a walk in the park but it was not too bad. Daddy was off that day so he too came along. Poh Poh (grandma) took a day off to look after Caitlyn as Tini (our maid) was not back yet. So Daddy and I got to stay with him through the whole school session. He was grouchy alright… he wouldn’t want anyone to sit next to him in class, scaring off the kids who attempted to with a scowl and growl… :-| sigh! (Yup, that’s my son) He wouldn’t answer to his ‘chinese’ name said in mandarin pronunciation :-|  He says that’s not my name! He told Shu lao shi (Teacher Shu), “It’s Tan Jun Hao!” and he said it in english pronunciation. Sigh! This is gonna be difficult…

This carried on for quite a bit… But the teacher now calls him by Aiden anyway… But even that he wouldn’t answer to now. He has chosen another name for himself (that’s another post altogether)

So he kept this up for about a week… giving me the flat “Fine” when I asked him how’s school when I pick him up everyday. I also made it a point to walk him to class almost everyday and noticed that he is still sitting alone and usually at the back of the class. Should I be worried? Well I don’t know.. But sometime in the 2nd week of school, things started to take a turn… for the better!
