Cait turned 4 this year… We didn’t have any party for her, nothing fancy even Daddy wasn’t here on her birthday. I felt really rotten for not planning anything for her… :-( I really couldn’t manage and it was just poor timing on my part. So in the end we thought we’ll save it up and have a little something for her at school with her friends instead when Daddy comes back.

On the day itself… I took her out with Emme and we just did girly things..  First stop was to Toys R Us to pick out her gift. She bout not just 1 but 2 items, a Barbie ‘laptop and a Barbie mermaid Merliah doll. **insert roll eyes here** Then we have lunch at TForty2 and after I took her for a manicure.

She kept asking me about having a party and when is her friend gonna come… I really felt so sorry for her and was absolutely dying inside. I gently told her there’s no party today… but we’ll have one when Daddy comes back at your school. She wasn’t very happy but she still held it in tho.. But she still kept her hopes up and still was expecting a ‘surprise’ to come her way..

So I quickly called my parents to arrange something that evening when they came over. So when my Dad came that evening she was really expecting and my dad pulled a fast one on her and said that there is no cake and no party.. Nothing is happening… She nearly broke down. Tears was already forming in the corners of her eyes.. So kung kung quickly said to her,” Oklah… Nevermind, lets just go and watch some tv!” and went into the tv room where Po Po and Aiden was already waiting with a cake and presents!!

When she opened the door… the look on her face was pure surprise and (maybe) relief. She was so touched… and was repeatedly saying ” OMG! OMG! OMG!!!” And she went around showering everyone with hugs and kisses…

I think that should make up for the day… :-)

And then when Daddy came back, we had a small little party for her at the school with all her friends… Although belated but we had it.. She was having a great time giving out cupcakes and party packs to all her schoolmates.. They sang songs and she wore a Princess tiara the whole day..

This week has been a hectic week for me. All the preparation for Caitlyn’s picnic party really had me pooped! But it was fun too. It’s the satisfaction of being able to give Caitlyn something that’ll put a smile on her face is priceless! When it comes to times like this you can really see and feel the love and support from friends and family… everyone wants to help. :-) Everyone wants to be there for this little person. It really says a lot.

So I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that was there for the picnic, especially many of you who helped and also some who couldn’t make it but called to wish our little Princess Happy Birthday.

Last Sunday was Caitlyn’s birthday! She is officially 2 years old now. For quite some time now everybody (mainly strangers) would think that she is more than 2 years old or older. Well, she is quite tall and big for her age.

We had a picnic to celebrate her birthday. I thought we’ll have something different this year, instead of the usual Mc Donald’s or Kid’s Sports party. I knew that it’ll be more work but I thought it’s good to get the kids (and parents) outdoors for a bit. :-D I was kinda prepared for all the work.. but getting everything ready really had me all pooped out!! I was also very determined to to make her birthday cake, and I wanted to make something that she’ll remember. So, I made the cake that she was all excited about when we were surfing the Wilton‘s site. I even had to make a test run cake just to make sure I had the recipe just right and the to learn how to ensemble the 2 tier cake. I’ve never made one before… It didn’t really ended up looking exactly like the one we saw but close.. :-D  I hope she liked it.

Preparations actually started almost a week before the party. Like the cake, goodie bags had to be made way ahead of time. The it was shopping for all the food and making sure everyone knew which park  and all. Even the menu changed a few times! :-|

On the day of the picnic, everyone was ready to help. Even Godpa Albert who is a late riser and is usually the last to arrive anywhere.. and.. was out drowning his sorrows because his team Liverpool didn’t win again… was at out doorstep at 730am SHARP to help out! Po Po also arrived very early to prepare the food while Kung Kung, Uncle Jeff, Uncle Howard was at the park getting the party site ready. Everything fell into place. Our guest all arrive on time and all had a good time! The kids were all busy catching fishes in the stream except for Zara, who’ll rather collect rocks.. :-| Just like any kids party, we plays games too. I actually had 5 games planned but due to shortage of balloons (they just wouldn’t stop popping!! Must be the heat) we only got to play 3 of the games but I guess it was just as well… Everyone was SO hilarious, especially the corn eating contest!! Actually I think the parents enjoyed the games more then the kiddos.. LOL!!

I thought it all went really well and it didn’t rain. I was SO, SO worried about that since it’s been pissing rain everyday for the pass week! That’s also why instead of having the party in the evening, we had it in the morning.

Here are some photos from the picnic.
