Simple

It’s really funny how parents are.. well, I speak for myself at least!! (I’m just hoping I’m not the only one
) I always tend to buy Aiden and Caitlyn toys whenever we go out and we almost never fail to visit Toys R Us or the toys department when we go out. And 90% of the time we’ll walk out with something… be it a matchbox car or even something simple like a ball or blocks! And when Aiden gets something Caitlyn is sure to have her share too (have to be fair mah..) Then we’ll have all these toys at home which they’ll forget and get over with in like a couple of days, then it’s off to the store again…
Daddy is always not so happy about that.
So lately I have been trying not to buy anymore toys for them… Instead I’ve been taking them to the park or setting up some swimming sessions with my friend’s kids…It is also in my plan to get my kids closer to nature. Well, It’s kinda working
This photo was taken while we were out for a picnic at the Taman Tun park. Caitlyn found two leaves and she was happily playing with it for ages! It strike me that she really doesn’t need all those canggih toys that I’ll usually buy her… just two dried leaves and she is a happy bunny!
So.. I guess I better plan more picnics now..

This year I had a very digital birthday…
What do I mean by that? Well, I would usually get presents like handbags, clothes and all things pink and fluffy… This year, I’m getting all things gadget-y … I have a new camera (from G), a Bamboo Fun tablet (from the gang), a 160GB portable hard drive (from CY and Raz) and a die-cast Mini cooper (from my 25%). Very UN-pink and UN-fluffy…
Don’t get me wrong… I am NOT complaining at all. I’m just laughing at the irony of it and also… how did I come this way… How things have changed. I’ll never thought that there will be this day when I get a hard drive for a gift and be totally happy and thankful for it!! Hahaha!
I thought I’ll have a super duper dress up party for my big 3-0… or at least a dinner party with all the my friends… But that didn’t happen. No romantic dinner also (some of you were asking that as well..
) Infact all I did on my birthday was like any other usual day, sent Aiden to school, spent like most of my day at the digital mall (trying to fix my printer!!) and I even cooked dinner for the whole family. So for all my friends who has called asking me “What’s the plan?” and what did I do for my birthday (thinking that I didn’t invite them…
) I didn’t!! No party, no dinner… I had a very quiet and uneventful big 3-0. I thought I’ll go out last night but I also didn’t. Gosh!! I AM 30!! Hahahaha!!!
If you have been following my post, I’ve written that I’ll spend my birthday reflecting and counting my blessings… and I did. It was obvious to me what my blessings were… from the amount of birthday wishes on the phone, Facebook, blog and e-mails that I got…( even on the next day!) I know that I am loved. I am blessed to have all these friends. That also goes to show that I have been a friend to them as well… which is a great pleasure for me. Aiden and Caitlyn of course and my family. They have made me a better person and helped me grow in ways that I never thought was in me… and my bloody waistline too!!
Hahahaha!!!

Mandy's pick of the week
Woo Hoo!!!! I received the Sunshine Newsletter last night this morning and what do I find?? I am Mandi’s Pick Of The Week!!!
I’m totally elated… I never thought that my LOs will be picked for stuffs like that, as I hardly get any comments in galleries or even here in the blog unless it’s fellow CT members, Kristin and a couple of my fellow bloggers…
I’m just SO happy and excited to be the pick of the week… What a great surprise, and it’s my birthday month too! This really renews my zest to create more LOs!!
Here’s the link.

This LO is done with my brand new ultra cool Bamboo Fun tablet, a gift for my birthday from my friends. They all chipped in to get me this tablet!! I’m not really sure how they know that I’ve been itching for one, although I can kinda guess… but nevertheless… I’m very happy!!
See the swirls on the background..
That’s what the tablet can do that the mouse can’t. And extraction is a dream with the tablet…
and that’s just the beginning..
Thank you for a very, very cool gift…

Turning 30

Today I turn 30!! Finally the BIG 3-0. Actually… I’ve been waiting for this day for a year how
(Last year I thought I was 30, but Daddy quickly reminded me I was only 29!)
I thought I’ll have lots to write about but at this moment… I don’t know why I actually don’t. Or maybe I’m just lost for words… maybe it’s the anticipation of this day now I’m speechless.
I thought I’ll make a checklist of things I’ve done/achieved during these pass 30 years, sitting here I feel like I’ve not done much. Except for having 2 beautiful kids, which I’m most proud of. I also thought that I might write something sappy but I just can’t pull it out now.
In fact, to be honest… I’m actually feeling a bit low now. No..No.. It’s not because of turning 30. I WANT to be 30, I have no issues about my age or aging for that matter! I think it’s a graceful process and I am proud to be 30. So I don’t know why…
Last night, my parents took us all out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We had Korean food. We all love that. I sat there and thought to myself… “I’m 30 but instead my parents look like they are 30!”
I bet you they don’t feel any older since the day they celebrated my 3rd birthday. Time seems to have frozen for them. Haha! I wonder if I’ll look like I’m 30 when I’m at their age…
So today… as what one of my friend (you know who you are) has invited me to do is to look back on 30 years of my life and see how far I’ve come and who I’ve become. Then maybe… I’ll be able to write my sappy post after that ;-)

Eyelashes
Credits: Cutie Pie by Franziska Altmann at Sunshine Studio Scrap
Journalling reads:
I must say that one of your best features are your eyes. That was the first thing that I noticed when you were placed in my arms for the first time… I’ll never forget that moment when you first opened your eyes… pretty double eyelids framed with long sooty lashes. Something you surely did not inherite from me because Mommy is so jealous of your long lashes. I’ve always wished for longer lashes, I guess all the years of wishing… my wish is finally granted but onto you. Which is really cool coz now I get to admire them everyday rather then if they were on me, I won’t get to see them as often.
I’ll find myself playing with your lashes when you are fast asleep! Mommy just can’t wait till you are old enough to use the eyelash curler!!

It’s been a while since I did a LO of myself… I kinda made a promise (to myself) that I’ll do at least one a month. I kinda started this one last month but never finished it as I was lost when it came to the journalling…
as usual. Ha! Ha! Surprise… But it’s finally done.

Sweet Apples Brag Book
Here the link: Digi Delights
Woo Hoo!!! Kristin used the QPs (quick pages) that I made for her with the fab new kit Sweet Apples for her blog freebie!! I’m so glad.
I didn’t mention what the freebie was because Kristin wasn’t sure if she’s gonna give these QPs as the freebie or something else…
but I’m glad she chose the QPs!
I had SO much fun creating these QPs. I hope you have as much fun using them for all your photos. I think it’ll be great if you have some photos that you want scrapped quickly or maybe if you’ve forgotten someone’s birthday or going away… Or whatever it maybe!! This is the quick solution and a great personal gift, they’ll love it and they won’t even know that you’ve made it in like 5 minutes! Print it out and slot them into a brag book album. What I usually do is, I’ll resize them, print them out and slot them into those plastic name tag thingys that you find in stationary store.. Voila!! It’s done!
Oh! There is one more step… Wait for the Oohs.. and Ahhss..
A perfect gift, always a hit whenever I give them out. So.. hop over to Kristin’s blog to pick it up dah-lings…!
Psst! Sweet Apples is also on sale, 3 days only at $3. That’s 50% off!!

Tea Bag Pirate
Credits: Bounce by Shabby Princess
Aiden’s eye has been swollen for the past 3 days, today is the 4th day already. It wasn’t so bad the first 2 days… I even took him to Megakids and he was happily running and tumbling about. My parents suggested to soak a tea bag and refrigerate it to be put over the swollen eye or wash it with over night tea.
Yesterday when he woke up, the swelling got bigger… I got really worried. So I applied the cold tea bag over his eye but (you know lah.. my son…) he just wouldn’t lay still. And he was screaming bloody murder as if the tea bag was scalding hot!
So drama!! I know… some of you must be saying… “Ya…Who’s son?” I don’t know what was more excruciating…The fact that he have to have the tea bag on his eye or the sheer fact that he had to lay still for quite some time ..
Well.. it’s definitely the second coz.. I really don’t think it’s painful at all! And I know that he just wanted to continue playing with his video games…
So what do I do? I had to improvise lah.. I took my hair elastic and made it into a ’sling’ to hold the tea bag over his eye, so that he can still sit up and run about..
So cool.. He looks like a pirate, not like he needed any help! Kekeke!
What would you have me do? I just had to make the best of the situation ok!
Anyway, I took him to the doc later that afternoon. The doc said that it’s probably due to a blocked oil gland (pretty funky oil glands I must say..) or maybe his hands were grubby and he rubbed his eyes with them… Hmm, sound like Aiden alright.
She also tested his eye sight and (again) Aiden couldn’t read the last 3 lines on the bottom..
Why I say again is because it’s happened before. Remember Cailyn’s birthday? His eye was SO swollen (worst then) and when I took him back for a check up he couldn’t do the 3rd line as well. And the doc there said that he might need some glasses.. How le? My son… with glasses? Not possible… it’ll break in like a few seconds or he’ll loose it while trashing about… unless we get those goggles kind that will stay on.
Stylish!!
