Guess what happened to me last Friday… I got Caitlyn from school and got home early didn’t go jalan jalan. I wanted to come back thinking that I’ll catch up with my scrapping since the last week was spent preparing for Emme’s birthday party. The CatScrap forum was packed with So much oh goodies but I just didn’t have the time to scrap. So I got home, sorted out everyone and just as I was about to launch my Photoshop I heard my part time maid, Jenny screaming for me form upstairs..” Maam!! Maam!! Maam!! Come now! Come now!” I actually paused my iTunes to listen for crying or something… but didn’t hear anyone crying.. Wah! I thought.. ‘Sei Lor… no crying… must be serious!!’ So I ran up the stairs… This is what I saw…
Raining in Cait's room!
And I think all that came out of my mouth was … “OMG!!OMG!! F@$#!! F$%*!!! ” What happened? I don’t know.. Here’s what it looks like… It was like someone pouring water from above the ceiling!
Water everywhere!
I wanted to turn off the main but I don’t know where it is… the whole place was pouring from everywhere… it was getting worst by the minute and little cracks was starting to show all over the ceiling and I knew it was the water tank. I could see watermarks showing. Water was leaking out from the light switches and aircond… even on the walls!!!
Leaking from the switches
Leaking from the aircond
I was in a state of panic! Thought I should turn off the main power supply just incase all the electrics gets screwed up.. but I didn’t know how or which one it is… Arrrgh! I was a huge mess.. All the 3 kids were crying and screaming! Tried calling my contractor and Jason my ID but nobody picked up… Called the maintenance but the girl that picked up the phone didn’t understand what I was saying and asked me to hold the line!!! Can you beat that!!? Greg as usual, when things like that happen he is very lucky, he is always away on flight.
So how? My mom for some reason was just on her way to my house and just outside, so I asked her to inform the guardhouse to ask someone from the maintenance to come immediately! Finally I spoke to someone from the office and told them my problem but she didn’t understand, all she said was.. “But it’s not raining now what..”
At this point Caitlyn’s room was all wet.. the parquet floor is surely gone by now… It was a huge mess!
How lah!
At this point I was already going crazy, running up and down trying to figure out what to do next.. Then I went up to the carpark where the water meter is, that’s where I figured the main water supply is, I would just have to turn that off and hope for the best. But when I arrived up there it was locked!!! WTF!!! Why’d they do that!!? Who has the key lah!! So I called the office again and ask them to bring the key and they said someone is coming over now. Great!! Then two guys arrived on the maintenance truck but with no urgency what so ever!! Guess they haven’t seen the condition in my house so they just took their on sweet time. But what really set me off was when I told them the meter is locked and asked them for the key they didn’t know anything about it and don’t even know where is the key! Why I know this? Because they were looking at each other stupidly asking each other “Siapa ada kuncinya?” I was already waxing eloquent in my brain… and I can hear my maid in the house still Maam Maam me! Arrrrgh!!! Then the 2 guys left, supposedly to find the key… Luckily my mom had already arrived and was with the kids so I wasn’t worried of one of them trying to switch on something and get fried like KFC!
I think it was about 10 minutes passed still nobody came back.. My phone has died on me… My day isn’t gonna get any better and I was just going crazy! 10 minutes felt like FOREVER at that point. So I did the worst… I’m surprise at myself… I smashed the glass door and turned off the main valve..
I can't belief I did that..
Sigh!! (this photo was taken when everything was over, they have remove it from it’s original state when I broke it for safety so no one will get cut by the glass) How’d I know which one to turn off… Well, it was easy… the meter was jumping like crazy just like the water flowing in my house!
After I’ve turned it off I ran back to my house to see if the water has stopped. It was still leaking!! How an that be? Since the main is turned off already… So maybe it’s the water tank.. So I asked mom and Jenny to turn on all the taps to drain the tank.. I was just really worried the ceiling in Caitlyn’s room would cave in! By now even Aiden’s room was leaking already. The cracks has reached his room already.
The one guy from the maintenance came with a bunch of KEYS!!! Yeay!! Too bad I have already broke the glass… His first words to me was… “Wah! You broke the glass door ah?” ……

DUH!!? Yes.. I’m not sorry.. I had to.
The water has stopped leaking and I told the maid to quickly and as best as she could.. dry the floor properly. But deep down in my heart I know it’s gone already. Sooner or later it would all pop out, by how wet it was… Then I think all the guys from the maintenance from the manager to the engineer all was in my daughter’s room… The verdict, they said that it was because of my water pump, the pressure was too strong and that was what burst one of the pipes. So they made sure my electrics were ok but no water for the night, until my contractor comes. And when they finally came the next day, they found the burst pipe but said it wasn’t anything to do with the pump but it’s because of the ABS pipes that this house (and all new houses, apparently) uses that’s of not so good quality and burst at the joints. Says he has seen many cases like that… So I don’t know who is right… everybody seems to want to be off the hook… I’m still wondering what’s gonna happen to my ceiling now…? And mind you we’re not the only houses on the Hill Villas that had this drama… My neighbour was one victim and I was told after my other neighbor learnt of our drama told us that the other house just down the road also same!! So maybe it’s faulty pipes from the developer itself?
But all the electrics is sorted..and the burst pipe changed. But Jason (my ID) suggested to just change them over to another type of pipe that is safer.
And so… that was my last Friday… What did you do last Friday?
