12 more days till Christmas… I have been busy, busy, busy… with no maid and all. So I have not accomplished much in terms of preparing for Christmas!! Not as much as I would like to. I didn’t bake any cookies or decorated much (thinking that I’ll have to take them out all by myself!) If I had my way I don’t think I would have put up the Christmas tree but I have 2 kids and it wouldn’t be right. So at least the tree is up! :-D But I have not done any shopping at all… I do have something… I can’t say what right now as it will spoil the surprise then.

We usually congregate at my MIL’s house on Christmas Day to stuff our faces and open presents but this year she has declared that she won’t be having anything as she just cannot cope with all the cooking and all… (sigh) I thought we’ll go out for dinner but everywhere is SO expensive and I thought it wouldn’t be as fun as having it at home. We can sit around and relax with everyone and not have to join in the mad rush in a restaurant. So, I finally gave up and yes… We’ll have the party here in our home. It’s more Christmas-sy (did I just make up that word?!). We’ll have a ‘organize’ pot luck kinda thing. We’ll plan it properly so that it’s not too much and to make sure that the food compliments each other. ;-) So that’s for the family side.

For the friends side, I’m still thinking… should I have it or not? I’m just really scared of the cleaning up part actually… I don’t know, I’m still thinking…

I won’t be posting up much as I’m (like I said) really busy. Although it is easier then when my first maid left but it’s still killing me slowly… It’s gonna be another at least 3 weeks till she comes back. So I’m still hanging on but I don’t know for how long… :-(

Last Sunday was Easter Sunday. We were all invited to my MIL’s for Easter get-together-lunch with the Chan’s, Sam Piew Sook and Bernard. Instead of the usual big cook out my MIL is so famous for, we had noodles this time which was a refreshing change! What’s on the menu? Pan Mee and Johor Laksa. Yummy!! We even have Yee Sang!! That’s different. My MIL went to church early in the morning so was running behind time. We arrived at about 12pm and she was still puttering about in the kitchen. So we all helped or we’ll never have lunch till 3pm! Turns out we had so much fun in the kitchen helping out. You know what happens when all woman come together…*wink* and to top it off,the Tans and the Chans clan is anything BUT the quiet sort. The whole kitchen was a buzz with laughter and chatter.Aiden had a great time making pan mee for us with the help of his favorite Uncle Henry (the chef) and Aunt Bernie. If you remember from my previous post about him wanting to be a chef…Henry was the one to encourage him which had Aiden prepared me breakfast the next morning.Lawrence and Shoba brought a butter cake, that’s yummy too!! Greg actually had second helping and he not the cake kind of person. After lunch we all sat around out to chat and catch up…well.. more like gossip. keke.. The men were all gathered upstairs to watch F1. Kimi won the race…maybe that’s why Greg had a second helpings of the cake, to celebrate.

This year, my MIL cooked the reunion dinner. The past 4 years that I have been married into the Tan family, reunion dinners were no less then 10 dishes… But this year we had 8 but we still managed to have left overs.. That would be just about right as we are not suppose to finish our food as a sign of abundance.

This year we also have an extra family member, Caitlyn. This is her first CNY (Chinese New Year), well.. not really as last year she was born on the 7th or 8th day of CNY but it surely is her first reunion dinner. And we have guest this year…my in-law’s really good friends from Down Under joined us! The more the merrier that’s what reunions are about… apart from the food of course!
