You know how I really LOVE Halloween, what’s not to love about it? Especially all the dressing up!!
But before this, before we moved to Gita Bayu, we never really got any chance to celebrate as it is really not that big a deal here in Malaysia. But I must say that too is slowly changing as I see more and more Halloween stuff are sold here which means more and more peeps are buying those stuff for parties and all… YIPPEE!!
You guys know that I love to scrap right…? And at this time of the year (and winters) I feel really left out and the site are jammed packed full of cool Halloween kits but I have no pictures to scrap it with… SoI’ll make other stuff with them.. And this year I actually have MORE reason to celebrate because we actually get to celebrate Halloween So… I made these Chocolate Stout Cupcakes and used MellyBird Design’s really cool Halloween kit Trick or Treat to make these cupcake toppers! Cool rite?

So on the second day of Chinese New Year we all made our my to the ‘Dai Ka Cheah’ (eldest sister) aka my mother’s house for dinner… She usually cooks the second day or the third so that I can come home to eat with everybody.:-) The spread is always the same over the years… one of everybody’s favorite dish from her. So we are NOT complaining!! Some of this dishes we only get to eat once a year.
This year we even have a ‘new’ family member joining us for dinner. Although she is not really ‘officially’ one of us yet but legally she is… LOL!
Just like Greg, my brother wasn’t able to join us this year for CNY because he had to stay back in Singapore for work..
But Greg surprise us by turning up later that night after his flight and managed to be the banker for the night

On the first day of CNY, the first stop is of course to my in-law’s for tea ceremony. A tradition that has been going on for Greg’s side of the family, and so, every year on the first day of CNY, that’s where we’ll be. This year, Caitlyn was very serious and served tea in a proper manner. I guess now that she understands more and she is always ‘on’ for things like that anyway… And also she received all her ang pows and said all her thank yous graciously, unlike last year where she rejected all other ang pows after receiving one with a picture of the Disney Princesses on it.
Then after that the next stop was as usual to Greg’s aunt’s house in SS2 where we again ate.. She makes the best achar and ‘babi hong’ (also another one of Greg’s family traditional dish and apparently the recipe is a secret). And had her soup which she has set over the charcoal stove over night.
And the last stop of the day will always be my Po-Po’s also in SS2. She always celebrates her birthday on the first day of CNY. This year is the first year she celebrated her birthday without my grandpa by her side. I know she misses him and he’ll always buy her red roses on her birthday and she kept talking about it this year…
And later that day we all went out for dinner with all my aunt’s and my cousins, my po-po’s treat!
Phew!! What a day!! But it was fun.. Did all the obligatory traditions and also got to spend time with my family, which made it great.
Only person I miss during this CNY is my brother, didn’t get any leave from work, so had to work throughout CNY.
