I must say that I’m very, very proud of Aiden. I’m not sure… to other parents who are chinese educated, it might not be much or maybe it is expected of kids to know. But to me, who is a (I would say) a half banana since I speak but cannot read and write chinese…. I’m blown away! I think he is bloody awesome.. Watch this!

Honestly… I really don’t know what exactly he is saying but I do know that it is about filial piety and stuff like that… I feel so-so terrible that I don’t understand the whole thing word for word but I’m just so proud of him. When we decided to send Aiden to a Chinese school… I was worried about a million things!! :-| and most of all I was afraid that he couldn’t catch up as this is only his first year in a chinese school environment while other kids have already been going since last year already. I kept reminding myself and Greg that we will not force it on him and pressure him  too much.If he really can’t cope we’ll change him right back to a main stream school. And to top it all off neither Greg or I read and write Chinese. We are what they call ‘Cinak Murtad’ or OCBC (orang Cina bukan Cina) … :-( So for a little ‘product’ produced by 2 OCBC/Cinak Murtad or 1 and a half banana… he is doing very well. His teacher says that he has the best writing in his class and often get ‘stars’ for them, and I know that he reads quite a bit of Chinese as he points them out to me when he sees something that he knows. And.. there is the splatter of Mandarin here and there when he speaks now.

Sigh! Looks like we can rest a little easier now… We have a little Chinese scholar in the house!! :-D I know who’ll be reading the train maps/guides/ menus for me when we visit so e Chinese country in the future! ;-)

You know… after he recited it to me the first time, I was so taken aback, my mouth hung opened for a good few seconds like a dead fish! I was flabbergasted! Though I couldn’t understand a word he said. Same with Daddy (the reaction even better!!) If I couldn’t understand, no way in hell Daddy would.. LOL!!

But Aiden, when you read this in years to come, I want you to know that Mommy is VERY IMPRESSED!! Like what Daddy always say.. You’re a genius!

I kinda lost count of the days… But I think it’s been more then a week already that Caitlyn has been sleeping on her own. Yes, finally!! We bought her her own little bed and somehow fit it into our room for her. Actually it took up the space where her baby cot (which she never slept on!) used to be. I was kinda nervous about the ‘transition’ period as I have heard over and over again that the older they are the harder it is to move them out. Well, over here we are gonna take one step at a time… now she is in her own bed, slowly she will be in her own room.

To be honest, it is as much a trying time of getting use to things for me (don’t know about Daddy) as it is for little Caitlyn… :-( I’m just so, so used to having her sleep next to me every night… Her ‘smell’ puts me to sleep and having her as a bolster (when Daddy steals mine away) also really helps. So, you see… I need to adjust as well. As for Daddy, I don’t know… Since now he is gonna be spending nights away from home anyway.. So I guess he’ll just have to get used to it faster then me. 8)

Amongst the 3 of us.. I think Cait is doing the best… Since we moved her to her ‘princess’ bed, (except for the first night) she has been obediently sleeping in her bed every night, even when Daddy was not at home last week. She’ll sometimes quietly go to her bed for a little snuggle… :-P I guess she likes her new bed.. :-D

Yesterday Greg left for his first night stop flight. After spending almost 1 and a half months on ground (pretty much driving me and the kids up the wall!!) he is finally doing some flying. After all these years of flying he has never had a stop over so I guess the kids are not used to the idea of Daddy not coming home for the night. Well, he has been away before for training and stuff… But I guess it’s different.

I guess G didn’t tell Aiden that he is going for a night stop flight… Aiden ask me what is a night stop… :-| It’s quite ironic for me to explain to him what is a night stop. The term use to be SO common to me during my trolley dolly days… now seems quite foreign to me, it actually took me awhile to put the 1 and 1 together to explain it to him… :-P

Then this morning, I woke up to find Caitlyn running around the house (checking everything and everyone, my little Goon Ka Poh) looking for her Daddy. She went searching in toilet in my room, hoping to find her Daddy sitting on his throne as usual every morning for the past 1 and a half months (which would seems to a 2 year old like forever). But no daddy to be found… Then when I came out of the room… I overheard her telling her brother

Daddy gone!! Daddy gone!!

When she saw me (lagi drama..), She ran to me with a frowning kept saying “Daddy gone!!”

So, Daddy if you are reading this… Next time when you go for night stop, please tell your children where you are going and when you are coming home kay!
