Last Saturday our whole family with Kung Kung and Po Po (my parents) went on a tree planting project in some peat swamp forest reserve in Bukit Tagga some where north Selangor near Kuala Selangor. It was hosted by Eco Warriors Malaysia and PATT (Plant-A-Tree-Today.org) and the target is to plant 10 000 on World Forest Day!

How did we end up doing this?

Well, we were invited by a friend Stephanie. I thought it was a great opportunity for Aiden to learn the importance of conserving our environment and what a fun way to learn by planting trees!

Actually to be honest, I didn’t know that we were going to a peat forest and it was going to be that muddy and wet!! When I saw the photo of Steph planting a tree she was all dry and looked very pretty in a field somewhere… So when we got there and saw all the MUD I was kind of taken a back. But that didn’t stop us from doing what we went there to do… Plant some trees!! But the 2 kids didn’t get to join us as the mud was all the way up to our knees in some areas and I was wet to my undies! Even that didn’t dampen our spirit to do our part for Mother Earth. My mother stayed with the 2 kids at the tent while we got all down and muddy with the rest of our friends from Asia Works. I didn’t really expect to have so much fun (I don’t exactly like to get all muddy) but we did, and for a good cause too! 8) We were all pooped after we’ve done our allocated rows and more. As we were heading out, the land was dry and Aiden got his chance to plant his tree. He was very proud of himself.

Actually Greg and I are very proud of Aiden and Caitlyn… It was really something for them. We actually had to track more then 1km in the oil palm estate to the planting site and they both did it on foot. Only on the out Jeff and Greg took turns to carry Caitlyn but Aiden did it on his own all the way. And to top that off it was a really hot day. Even I was feeling like fainting on the way out.. :-(

After that we took a drive to Kuala Selangor for some well deserved seafood lunch.

Today it’s ‘Back to School’ for little Aiden. I thought there would be a little fuss getting him to school but there was none… well no major drama, he was just a little whiny when we got to his classroom. I expected more drama especially after all the fun we had during the holidays. We (the kids,my parents and myself) went to Rawa Island for 3 days 2 nights, planted trees for the 2009 World Forestry day, took Caitlyn for Disney Princess On Ice… Yes, it was a very busy week indeed.

And today after school, Aiden is going for an audition for a tv commercial, thanks to Aunty Erica. Let’s see how he does at the audition, I’ll update as soon as I know.

Everyone who knows me know that I’m totally C.R.A.Z.Y over Hello Kitty. Well, actually I’m not ‘that’ crazy over it anymore, not like I used to be. Trust me I used to be A LOT worst! Now it’s more of a lingering endearing feeling towards this pussy. BUT that doesn’t mean that I won’t sometimes loose control… :-D Especially when it’s a collab with MAC!! This week happens to be full of Hello Kitty, because MAC launch a collection of limited edition Hello Kitty MAC cosmetics. I wasn’t as lucky to go to the launch but Charles (Greg’s cousin) was there and snagged these cute balloons for me and he also got a gift voucher and kept the invitation for me to keep.So sweet of him!! I thought I was over the moon when I saw the balloons until I came home and Caitlyn saw them… She just squealed in delight and grabbed them from me! :-| And she started posing and dancing with them around the living room… I never thought there would come a day when someone will be fighting for my Hello Kitties… :-| Oh well, I guess she’ll inherite all my collectables someday anyway. I guess I should be lucky that she actually loves Hello Kitty.

This week is also full of parties :-) There was the Love Machine’s 1st anniversary party at Marketplace on Friday. I finally got to bake with Yam, which totally blew my mind away. Why? Because all that I learned and read on how to bake has been shattered… Rule number 1 that I learnt of baking is that accuracy and correct measurements is key to a success… that does NOT apply to Yam at all!! He doesn’t even have proper measuring spoons and cups! I have like 2 kinds of each!! Sigh! Well, I guess I really cannot challenge our Martha Steward. Yam has been baking for years.. So nevermind all the other rules… We baked something like 200 cupcakes for the party and it was all gone, which is a good sign. Actually I kinda gate crashed on him when I heard that he needed to bake some cupcakes for the party but he was also kinda busy with other stuff, so I offered to help. I was glad that I did, had so much fun. Charles also came to help, so you can imagine we had lots of laughs to go along too!

Then the next day was a farewell dinner party for Caitlyn’s Godpa Albert. :-( He will be leaving to Dunedin, NZ to be with wifey. We will miss you much! But we also wish you all the best!
