Test Run Cake

Some of you already know that I just started learning how to bake not too long ago… but I have been doing quite well. Nobody has had a tummy upset or choked because the cake is too dry.. :P So I suppose I can pass… and am slowly making improvements.

So I’m planing to bake Caitlyn’s  birthday cake this year, and I’m  going to make it a 2 tier cake. A little over my head? Well yeah… maybe, but I’m determined to do it. If I can teach myself HTML, set up blogs and use Photoshop, I think I can and will be able to put together a 2 tier cake. 8-)

Not too long ago I was ‘Tagged’ by a friend to make this 25 random things list in Facebook. I actually got ‘Tagged’ at the early stages of this… tagging frenzy because there weren’t many list around and I didn’t see people’s list all over FB yet. I did try to make my list then but I was stuck at somewhere in number 5 or 7… I really didn’t think that it would be so hard or took that long to make a random list about myself!! :-| Anyway, within a few days, the whole FB was plastered with everyones list! The pressure IS on!! I tried again, and again.. on I think, 3 different occasions. Still no list. Sigh! :-(
I thought I’ll never make a list coz every time I never got pass number 9.
then I started reading lists from my friends… I must say that this is the only chain thing that is pretty damn good. I was learning more things about my friends then I ever would just sitting over coffee (or chilling out sessions). It was getting really cool. And so, I was SO inspired to do my list. So that night after everyone has gone to bed I sat at my laptop and did my list. I think it took me like an hour and a half to complete. I wasn’t sure what I should write and what would be considered as nonsense… and it’s really no point to include things that are obvious already (really, what’s the point right?)

So anyways… Here is my list. I just Cut and Paste from FB.

Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you.

(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people, then click publish.)

1) I’ve been in love with a certain ‘pussy’ since I was like… 6, maybe 4… I don’t remember. It’s been that long!

2) I even have a tattoo to prove it!

3) I recently learnt to bake.. and I think I really like it! Except that it’s making me fat from all the testing and eating up my failed attempts. My friends and family only see the ‘jadi’ ones… I don’t believe in giving people things that are not at least perfect if not fantastic.

4)I think I’m quite artistic… I’m a handcraft freak… Classes that I have attended so far… Knitting (I can knit since I was in Form 3), tatting, quilting and embroidery, batik painting and pottery. Currently I’m totally into scrapbooking (digital and paper) and card making.

5) I don’t think I actually give much thought on myself, coz I’m struggling to complete this list (and it’s not the first time I started one but didn’t finish)

6) I’m quite a geek… hehehe! Or rather I’ve become quite a geek ever since I started my blog and digital scrapbooking and I cannot live without my Macbook.

7) I love to hear Chinese songs although I cannot read or write Chinese. I have memorized so many songs and some so flawlessly that many people that have gone to sing K with me thinks that I’m reading the lines…until I ask someone to pick out the songs for me. LOL!!

8) I’d love to have a pet dog, but we live in an apartment.

9) I actually miss my trolley dolly days…or maybe it’s just the shopping and being in different countries that I miss… Hmm.. no I do actually miss the job too believe it or not!!

10) I’m curious about living in another country, I wonder what would that be like.

11) I’ve always been a Kylie fan… after I’ve been to her concert, it is affirmed she will always be on highest pedestal in my heart! She rocks!!

12) Although I love all things pink, I hardly ever wore pink. Infact I’m mostly in black or white.

13) I know most people will think that Aiden is hyper and ott but I think he is just so cool.. and I’m not saying that because I’m his mom.

14) I’ve always love ballroom dancing. My favorite has to be the Rhumba and Paso Doble. I’ve always wanted to learn it but too lazy or perhaps too chicken to learn it.

15) One of my dreams is to be a florist, I love flowers.

16) I love to read.. simply because when I do I’m transported into another world. right now I just finished reading New Moon and am dying to get my hands on the next book!!

17) I wish I could sing.. like really sing! right now I’m just confined to singing in the car when I’m alone, well.. sometimes with the kids in the car. They don’t mind. LOL!!

18) I wish I could play a musical instrument.

19) My favorite Disney Princess is Ariel… but I think Giselle is cool too.

20) Places that I’ll love to visit someday… Greek Islands, Santorini in particular, Japan ( I want to go to Sanrio land, yes..there is one!!), Halong Bay in Vietnam, Bora Bora Island, Guilin and Sichuan in China and India to see the Taj Mahal.

21) I’ve never dated a ‘mat salleh’ before in my life… I guess some of us are just not born to be a SPG afterall… LOL!! Unlike ‘some’ of my sisters!!

22) I’ve always wanted to learn how to use a SLR camera… I always drool over those cool artsy fartsy photos that I see some of my fellow bloggers and digi scrapper friends take. Hmmm… Project!! Project!! Yippee!!

23) I’m quite camera shy… Don’t laugh!!!

24) I wish I’d listen to my Mom and went to get braces when I was a teenager.

25) I can’t believe I had actually written so many things about myself….

And after I’ve made my list, everytime when I have a moment on my own, like when I’m stuck in traffic or something… I’ll start thinking about my list and often I’ll come up with something that I thought would have been more interesting then what I’ve already written. BUT!! that’s what ‘randomness’ is all about anyway right? Then a few of my ‘sistas’ were having tea one evening and we were ofcourse talking about each other’s list and I found out it was the same with them. The list actually got them thinking quite a bit and some of us suggested to make another list… :-| Well, we’ll see.

Last week Greg and I were invited to Koh Samui, Thailand for an anniversary party of two of or very good friends. They have been together for 5 years. Every year they will celebrate their anniversary and it is usually no small event. When it is almost time for their anniversary the rest of us will be guessing what will they come up with this year, and trust me every year will be more ott then the last! :-D It’s like they are trying to outdo themselves…. not that we are complaining tho… They are just really fun and they just love to entertain. And we, just happen to be SO, SO lucky. AND this year we are just SUPER DUPER lucky I must say…. All we got was an invitation card that we are invited to celebrate their 5th anniversary. A list of things that we need to pack and our passport with a 6 months validity period. Venue is a secret! That really sent us all guessing and all excited!! :-) Some of us guessed it right, most of us only found out when we arrived at the airport.

I must really salute them for all the time spent organizing the whole trip for all 34 ‘queens’ and 2 straight men from almost 5 countries!! Not to mention money spent!! It must have cost a BOMB! To organize a dinner party is already A LOT of work… what more to get all 36 people to an island…. You have my utmost R.E.S.P.E.C.T sista!!

So.. we all departed from Subang airport, flying Firefly to Koh Samui. And true to their style, everything was well thought of to perfection from the time that we arrived till we left the island. We stayed at Bhundhari Resort near Chaweng beach. It is a lovely resort, the signature color is pink! See… I love it already! Just perfect for a bunch of sistas!! Visit the site, you’ll see what I mean. All together our group took up 14 villas/rooms and the Presidential Suite, where all the partying will be!

On the first night we had a lovely buffet dinner by the beach and followed by some dance performance and fire dancers on the beach!! It was really a special time we had catching up with our friends who live in other countries and cities. After the fire dancers were done, the happy couple lighted up their ‘heart’ on the beach… It was just so lovely… and romantic.

Fire Heart

Just as we thought the entertainment for the night was over and we were so ready to adjourn to the Presidential Suite to party the night away… that we were told that there was one last surprise for us…

They arranged for all of us to set free a Hung Meng Deng (sky lantern). The host from the hotel explained to us what is a Hung Meng deng. You can read about it in detail here. It is said that when you make a wish and set free one of this sky lanterns, your wish will come true. What a truly meaningful way to celebrate this very special night. It was just SO beautiful to see all the lanterns floating up into the sky carrying all our wishes and hope to the heavens above. Sigh!! And sharing this experience with so many of my closest friends made it even more special for me.

Thank you F & M… It was really so thoughtful and special.

After that very ‘feeling-feeling’ moment, all of us finally went up to the suite to PARTY!!! After that, all was a blur to me… :-D We really let our hair down and really had too much fun (as if there’s such a thing!) LOL!!

Here are the pics!
