So what did you do for Valentine’s Day? Did any of you do the dinner, flowers and chocolate thing? Please tell me some of you received or sent something…I know Jazzmint got some cupcakes!! That’s nice…it was her Birthday as well!! Happy Birthday again Jazz.
Well as for me… I got Greg a little present…a wallet small enough to put into his pocket but big enough to fit RM50 notes. Took me awhile to find it because men’s wallet are usually very big and after some time some of it will even rip your jeans back pocket or it’s so big it looks really hideous in your back pocket. Have you noticed that? So anyway, I finally found it at Hidesign. They’re stuff are actually quite cool, even the ladies handbags are quite nice if you are not very brand conscious and looking for a quality leather goods.

I must say that I was quite disappointed this year as Greg didn’t even get me a flower or went out for dinner. I know that they always say that never expect or you’ll be disappointed…But honestly! How can I not expect something? When I mentioned about it he said to me that I’m contradicting myself…He overheard me saying to my brother not to buy flowers on Valentine’s Day… so that why he didn’t bother… *hello!!* I buy flowers all the time for the house…after 4 years of marriage (coming to 5) I think he should know that I like…? Then he said to me can I give you your Valentine present on the 16th? Because the shop is not open. I was very worried…because everytime he does that he usually get something really weird and it’s a surprise alright!! But I refrained from asking him and waited patiently and I thought “Oh ok…that’s something.Give the guy a chance” But today nothing..he said the was still close in the morning when he went there and when he called in the afternoon to enquire (so it is a dress that I’ve been looking at everytime we pass by the shop) *slap head* (Thank God he didn’t buy it) I have no where to wear it to! A new dress is the last thing I need. Why I’m always looking into the shop windows longingly? Because I wished I could go shopping but these days I hardly go shopping because I have no where to wear the clothes to and can’t really afford to go shopping. So anyway… why he didn’t buy the dress was because the dress cost….*guess?* a freaking RM1599!!! I’m sure Greg nearly dropped the phone when he heard that! Just as well…like I said, a new dress is the last thing I need. *sigh* My husband is so bad at surprises… Well.. or rather you can say pretty good at it!! Since I’m left ‘surprised’ almost everytime he tries.

This year, my MIL cooked the reunion dinner. The past 4 years that I have been married into the Tan family, reunion dinners were no less then 10 dishes… But this year we had 8 but we still managed to have left overs.. That would be just about right as we are not suppose to finish our food as a sign of abundance.

This year we also have an extra family member, Caitlyn. This is her first CNY (Chinese New Year), well.. not really as last year she was born on the 7th or 8th day of CNY but it surely is her first reunion dinner. And we have guest this year…my in-law’s really good friends from Down Under joined us! The more the merrier that’s what reunions are about… apart from the food of course!

First day of CNY, the weather was HOT! HOT! HOT! Getting the children ready was no easy task since I have to do it all by myself. Greg was working, he will be working from the 1st and 2nd day of CNY. This year I bought Chinese costumes for both Aiden and Caitlyn from our trip to Zuhai. Luckily Aiden co-operated and willingly put it on without any fuss. Caitlyn wa such a cutie in her Chinese outfit…I bought a really RED number for her as this is her first! So after all dressed up we all made our way to my in-law’s for our yearly ‘jum-cha’ session (tea ceremony). We do it every year, so it’s become kind of like a family tradition already.

Next stop is my granny’s house. It is also her birthday, so I bought her a gold pendant with the Chinese character that says ‘sou’ (longevity). My cousins from Singapore was also there so it was really merry. Aiden found a new friend in Jeremiah (my cousin’s son). Together they got up to some mischief… chasing down their great grandma’s cat and redecorating her house for her. When it was time for Jeremiah to leave he didn’t want to, and he wanted to follow Aiden home instead!

We also manage to take some family photos while we were there…And of course… there was food!
