MSG Girl

This happened in Macao one afternoon enjoying our rather unhealthy lunch ‘ta pau’ (take away) from our favorite ‘chu pa bao’ (pork chop buns) stall on the beach in AhYee’s kitchen. While we were stuffing our mouth, Caitlyn wanted some too. My first reaction was ‘NO’. But Ah Yee said … “It’s Ok. Let her have a wing.” Then Ah Yee added…” Hey! Your brother had his first pork rib when he was only 6 months old!” Hmmm…That’s true. So we gave her a part of the wing…She loved it!! And she wanted some more after the first, and she cleaned out the bone quite well too. And Ah Yee said ” Of course…it has MSG! Anything would be yummy!”

The second time she had MSG was in Zuhai,China. We were out shopping all day. I didn’t expect that we’ll be out all day, so I only brought 1 portion of her porridge with me. So we had to feed her porridge from one of the restaurants there…yes…It was yummy. Even daddy thinks it’s yummy…

Sigh!! I’m becoming a bad mom. When Aiden was a baby, I use to be so anal about these things. Aiden didn’t eat outside food till he was more than 2 years or so. And he had never tasted instant noodles till Caitlyn came along, which make him 4 years old. My confinement lady gave it to him. He loved it and asked me why he has never ate this before?*scratch head*

Now…with Caitlyn I’m so relaxed with all these things. One clear example, Caitlyn is still sleeping on the same bed as us. Aiden was sleeping on his own from the time we brought him home from the hospital. We were afraid about sudden cot death amd a whole lot of stuff that I read about. Everything I read from my baby books was like gospel to me. Good or bad? I dunno? I guess I’m just not so ‘kan cheong’ anymore la.I guess deep down I know *cross fingers* that Caitlyn will be the last… and we really give in to her alot. Many times I find myself thinking…”Aiya! Nevermind la, I’ll never get to do this again.” That’s my excuse. I don’t know what Greg tells himself to feel ok…Hahaha!

So anyway… Ah Yee is THE ONE who gave my son his first taste of pork rib ‘Pai kuat wong’, and my daughter her first BBQ chicken wing.
