So finally the concert day is here. Theme for the concert is ‘Our Friends From Around The World’. All the students from all the Beaconhouse Pre-schools took part in the Annual Concert. As per the theme, each class will perform a traditional dance/song or celebration, dressed in their tradition costume. Aiden’s class was asked to perform a Korean dance, Arirang and sing a Korean song. The kids have been busy practising for the past 2 months! Everyday since they started, we at home, have been entertained with Aiden’s rendition of Heal The World, Rasa Sayang and Three Bears (a Korean childrens’ song) everyday. I don’t know who is more stressed..the kids or the teacher. I was there to take a peek yesterday during the full rehearsal and it was quite chaotic. But it all turned out well today.
Aiden was really excited since last night. It’s a wonder that he fell asleep finally. He was really cute..he made sure that his Korean costume is hanging on the cupboard knob so that he could see it from his bed.
In the morning, after his bath,I told him that I’ll put on some make up for him..He gave me a funny look (so Greg don’t have to worry…yet)
Aiden: Make up!! (rolls eyes) Why?? But I’m a boy.
Mummy: It’s ok..it’s only for the concert. You’ll look handsome! Just a little bit of colour on your cheeks.
Aiden: Sigh! Ok, and I wannna make my hair up,up like Daddy like that. (he wants his hair gel up like his Dad)
And he wouldn’t stop looking at the mirror throughout the whole proses.. No wonder people say that children are the by products of their environment.Aiden is definitely our son.
The concert was held at the Civic Center in PJ. All the Grandparents except for Greg’s dad was there for Aiden’s first concert. Even his ever doting Godpa Paul came (he snucked out of work) I went backstage to visit my little star and to wish him ‘break a leg’ (he look at me with very alarmed eyes) when I said that to him. I really don’t know how the teachers do it,it was just crazy. I was only there for about 10 mins, when I stepped out, my head was throbbing. (I made a mental note to send teacher Sue a nice ‘Thank you’ card and gift when the year ends.)
Aiden did really great during the performance, not missing out his steps and danced to the song. They all looked so cute in their costumes. The girls look so adorable in their hanbok (Korean’s female traditional costume) At the end of the concert all of them sang Heal The World. I had a little Asiaworks moment then, watching all the kids singing that song… Sigh! If only…
